Engr. Dr. Temitope John Alake was born on the 23rd of February, 1965, in Are-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. Born into a family of professional teachers as parents, he had an early contact with academics at the Holy Trinity Primary School, Aisegba-Ekiti (old Ondo Province in the former Western State), where he obtained his Primary School Leaving Certificate in September, 1976. He then proceeded to the renowned Egbe-Oba High School, Ikole-Ekiti (also in the old Ondo State), where he obtained a certificate in the West African Senior School Examinations in June/July, 1981. Dr. Temitope AlakeÂ’s tertiary education sojourn spanned through about three decades of acquisition of learning and skills in Engineering and Technical Education across six different tertiary institutions across different states of Nigeria. Dr. Temitope Alake attended The Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State (now known as Rufus Giwa Polytechnic), where he obtained the National Diploma Certificate in Electrical Engineering in 1983. He bagged his Higher National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Electronics and Telecommunications) in 1986, from The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti.

Upon the completion of his Polytechnic education, Dr. Alake participated in the one year compulsory National Youth Service and he contributed his own quota to his Motherland in Ogun State in 1987. In 1990, he commenced his postgraduate sojourn and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Technical Education from the University of Benin, Edo State in 1993. He went further to obtain a second Postgraduate Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from Edo State University, Ekpoma in 1997. He also holds a Masters in Electronics & Communications Engineering from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State in 2005. He obtained his PhD in Electronics Engineering from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State in 2014.

For a man who has acquired so much in terms of knowledge and skills, Dr. Alake was, no doubt, full of passion to give so much. This perhaps guided him to begin his working career as a Master Grade II Teacher in 1987 in the Ondo State Teaching Service Commission, Akure, Nigeria. Between 1987 and June 1991 Dr. Alake Tope taught at Are/ Afao Comprehensive High School as a Class room tutor(His home town). He was also a Senior Instructor at the Ondo State College of Education, Technical Education Department, (which later metamorphosed into Ekiti State College of Education and currently to Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti), where he was between 1991 and 1997.

He joined the service of his Alma Mata, The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti in September, 1997, as a Principal Instructor II, a position from which he steadily rose to become a Chief Lecturer in 2015. The resourcefulness of Engr. Temitope Alake attracted him to other institutions of learning within and outside the State. Such institutions include Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State, where he was on a one-year Sabbatical leave and Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti, where he served as the Coordinating Dean and pioneer Head of Department. He has attended several Workshops, Seminars, Conferences and Exhibitions within and outside Nigeria where he has made much contributions to knowledge through sound academic paper presentations.

He has served his present Institution in various capacities which include but not limited to being the Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, FPA Chapter, the Sub Dean, Students Affairs, the Head of Department, Electrical/Electronic Engineering Department, coupled with being the Chairman or member of several Management Advisory and Ad hoc Committees. He was an External Examiner at The Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin; Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo; The Federal Polytechnic, Offa; Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ekiti State Branch, Ado–Ekiti and at various times, Member of the Accreditation Team to National Board for Technical Education, Kaduna, Nigeria.

By the grace of God, Dr. Temitope Alake was appointed as the 7th substantive Rector of The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, on the 23rd February, 2023, having come out the best among the three shortlisted candidates for the post. His administration is anchored on God through the principles of Discipline, Integrity, Sacrifice, Excellence, Creativity and Teamwork (DISECT).

He continues to contribute to knowledge through various scholarly articles published in both local and international journals and he has over fifty of such publications to his credit. He has taught over twenty courses in the field of Engineering and supervised such a number of Projects, many of which are being used in the Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering and which have become channels of internally generated revenue to the Institutions till date. A few of them include the Design and Construction of 3-Way/2-Way Electro- Acoustic Transducers, the Design and construction of 6-Channel P.A System and the Design and construction of an Uninterruptible Power Supply System, just to mention but a few.

Dr. Alake is a Corporate Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers; fully Registered Engineer by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, Member, Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and Member, National Association of Teachers of Technology. He has also held various positions of responsibility within his Community. They include but not limited to being the Financial Secretary, Basiri Cooperative Society, GOFAMINT, Uro Assembly Ikere-Ekiti, Member, Security Committee of Ifelere Landlords Association, Olujoda Area, Ajilosun, Ado-Ekiti; Coordinator, Egbe Omo Are-Ekiti, Federal Polytechnic Branch, June, 2014- up to date, Chairman, 1976-1981 Set, Alumni Association of Egbe-Oba High School, Ikole-Ekiti, from 2019-till Date.

Indeed, Engr. Dr. Temitope John Alake he is a testimonial to the Shakespearian saying that the heights that great men attained were not by sudden flight. He is a believer in Christ and serves the Lord in The Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT) where he is an Elder. He is happily married and his home is blessed with God loving children.

Dr. Jadesola Eyitayo Taiwo Babatola, Ph.D., is a distinguished Nigerian university administrator, historian, and public policy researcher.

His educational trajectory spans the field of history, international studies, political science and public administration. He attended the prestigious Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti for his high school education and obtained a B.A. (Hons) degree in History from Ondo State University (now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti) in 1990. He received M.Sc. degree in Political Science (Public Administration) from the University of Ibadan (1997) and Ph.D. in History and International Studies from Ekiti State University (EKSU) in 2019.

In his professional career and leadership quest, he held high-ranking administrative positions across various Nigerian public educational institutions. He was the immediate past Registrar of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo; former Registrar of Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe, Bayelsa State; former Registrar, National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, Ondo and a Deputy Registrar at Ekiti State University.

He served briefly as a Commissioner at the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in 2007. He was elected the President of Ekiti State University Alumni Association Worldwide in 2007, during which he led the construction of the Faculty of Law Moot and Trial Court among others and promoted the branding of the university to engage and broaden its alumni solidarity.

Dr. Babatola holds fellowships and certifications from recognized professional bodies such as Fellow: Chartered Institute of Administration (FCIA); Fellow: Nigerian Institute of Management Chartered (FNIM); Fellow: Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC); Fellow: Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria (FCAI); Member: Association of University Administrators (MAUA, UK), Member: Association of Nigeria University Professional Administrators (MANUPA); Member: Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (MCIPM) and Associate, Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators (ACIS).

As an academic researcher, he has several publications to his credit focusing on history, higher education management, and public service. Part of his works include: Public Service Rules and Effective Service Delivery in Higher Institutions; Ekiti Pelupelu Obas and Governor Fayemi Challenges and Surviving Crucibles: Chronicles of a Nigerian Graduate and many of his works can be found on Google Scholar Profile and ResearchGate.

He has visited many countries for conferences and vacationing such as USA, Canada, Great Britain, Scotland, Israel, Palestine Territories, Turkey, France, Ethiopia, South Africa, Libya, Qatar, Benin Republic, Togo and United Arab Emirates.

He is a community activist and holds the Chieftaincy title of Mayegun of Awo Ekiti, Aare Onigegeara of Erio Ekiti and Onigegeara designate of Ibadan. He is a Jerusalem Pilgrim (JP) and accorded the state honour of Goodwill Tourism Ambassador for the State of Israel in 2007. He was among the 40 distinguished alumni honored in 2022 by the EKSU Alumni Association at the 40th anniversary of the founding of Ekiti State University, his Alma Mater.

He is the convener of Peace Concert—the largest gospel music concert in Ekiti State. Internationally, he volunteered as a Business Administration and Entrepreneurship Instructor at Grand Bassa Community College, Liberia, under Nigeria’s Technical Aid Corps for Two years.

With deep interests in leadership, corporate governance, agribusiness, and social responsibility, Adetunji holds a B.Sc. in Accounting (EKSU), MBA (OAU), and a First-Class Master’s in Human Resource Management (ABUAD). He also holds a Certificate in Advanced Diplomacy and Protocol from the London School of Protocol and is currently pursuing a PhD at EKSU.

He is the State Chairman of the Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria (ISMN), a member of the Nigerian Society of Evaluators, and Chairman of the EKSU Alumni Association, Ekiti Chapter. He also serves as the Global PRO of the EKSU Alumni Association.

Currently, he is the Senior Special Assistant on Monitoring and Evaluation in the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD), Ekiti State Government. He is happily married to Moyosore Aribasoye and blessed with children.
